I’ll be the first to admit, I was nervous for my first yoga class. Walking into a new space alone, surrounded by people I'd never met before, whom I assumed were a lot stronger and more flexible than me. I was intimidated. But once the soothing music came on, the lights were dimmed, and the calming voice of the instructor commenced, I was instantly relaxed. My eyes were closed, and I was concentrating on breathing and nothing else just like every other person in the room.
By the end of the class my body felt full of movement, my muscles were relaxed, and my headache was gone. From that day forward, I have been attending yoga every week.
|Yoga is for everyone! There is no age limit. As you can imagine there is a whole spectrum of strength and levels of flexibility. It’s not as hard as you might think, and every posture can be customised to you. If you’re nervous, try sitting in the middle at the back of the class so you can relax and watch what the people in front of you are doing.
Yoga has many physical and emotional benefits. It forms outer awareness and inner awakening, as well as improving your overall wellbeing and mindset.
Take the leap and your body will love you for it!
