Empowering you to move freely
dk active is for everybody and every body.

Proudly manufactured in Australia, we strive to change the game in environmentally responsible design. Whether you’re working out or hanging out, our functional garments provide the perfect fit.

Our HQ, based in North Brisbane, runs on solar power and a passion for ethical business practice. We are proud to say that our factory meets all Australian standards for ethical clothing manufacturing.

Who is dk active?

Established in 2017 by Danielle Kay, dk active was born from a desire to bring an ethical and inclusive energy to the activewear industry. As the brand grows, we are learning & evolving continuously to ensure we stay at the top of our game in inclusivity and diversity.

Have you met our friendly little logo? This energetic figure was created from the letters ‘DK’ (hint… you may need to tilt your head).

We believe it’s important to be kind to your body and that exercise should be a form of self love - not a punishment. We encourage exercise for a healthy lifestyle and whatever that exercise may be, we promise to keep you feeling comfortable.

How we stay environmentally responsible

You may have heard the term ‘clothing kilometres’, which takes into account the kilometres clocked up by transporting fabrics, textiles, garments et cetera. At dk active it’s a matter of metres.

All of our garments are cut in-house at our HQ, reducing the clothing kilometres of each piece to virtually nil. From design, manufacturing, warehousing to distribution, each step of the dk garment lifecycle is contained under the one (solar-powered) roof.

We’re no strangers to the waste that the fashion industry generates, with millions of tonnes of dead stock or offcuts contributing to landfill each year. To help combat this, we release one refined collection per season, adopting a slow fashion approach to our release structure.

To further reduce our landfill contributions, we utilise our fabric offcuts wherever possible:

  • Using them to test machines
  • Create sample garments
  • Fill boxing bags at local gyms
  • Create hand therapy straps for local physiotherapists
  • Donated to TAFEs/universities for fashion students

We always have offcuts available, so if you or your business can put them to good use, please Email Us

Renewable Energy

Something we are very proud of is our solar-powered HQ! Housing our entire staff, from design to distribution, it all happens right here in Brisbane, Australia.

You can monitor our live power usage here to see how we’re faring in terms of energy production (it may take a moment for the live feed to update). We usually generate more energy than we use, and that power gets fed right back into the grid.

No sunshine wasted around here!

Our fabrics

Slow fashion means high quality garments built to last and this is what you can expect from your dk active.

If you're looking for garments with lower environmental impact, we recommend our garments made from regenerated nylon, organic cotton, bamboo and modal.

Our activewear is made from a carefully selected group of high quality textiles. Our fabrics have an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, meaning they pass the internationally recognised standard deeming them to be free of any toxic chemicals.

It checks for carcinogens, azo dyes and other chemical limits in accordance with the European REACH standards. And it’s not just our fabrics - where possible we also utilise OEKO-TEX certified threads, buttons and other accessories.

At dk active, your health and happiness is our priority, so we want you to know what you’re putting on your body.

We haven’t compromised on technical features when selecting our fabrics either!

You can find the below icons on each product page, which tell you more about how our activewear works with you to ensure your comfort and high performance at all times.

Our packaging

Shopping online has (on average) a 60% lower carbon impact than shopping in-store. Nearly 85% of the impact of physical stores comes from the travel time of their customers.

We offer carbon neutral shipping options through Australia Post, who purchase carbon credits to offset the environmental impact of deliveries.

We’re very proud of our plastic-free packaging. Our non-toxic and biodegradable satchels are made from plants. Pop them into your compost bin at home with your veggie scraps and send them back where they came from (the Earth).

Our future

Whilst we undertake every effort to ensure we remain environmentally conscious (and transparent about it) we recognise that the fashion industry has a long way to go. We are constantly on the lookout for new technology, practices or textiles that will further our efforts.
