ESPRESSO SMOOTHIE RECIPE
Life’s busy, and most of us don’t have the time to whip up a fancy breakfast - but that doesn’t mean you have to skip the most important meal of the day. Try combining your breakfast and morning coffee with this on-the-go smoothie recipe. All you need is a few ingredients and 5 minutes and you’ll be ready to take on the world!
1 cup chilled long black (use 1-2 of your favourite Urban Brew coffee pods)
1/4 rolled oats
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 tablespoon cacao powder
2 medijool dates (soaked and pitted)
It’s too easy - just throw everything in your blender and blast it until smooth! Feel free to add more almond milk to achieve your desired consistency. If you’re feeling fancy and have an extra minute to spare, top with coffee beans, chocolate nibs and oats.
TIPS FOR CULTIVATING A REGULAR YOGA PRACTICE AT HOME
They say it takes 21 days to make (or break) a habit. So how do we get to that magical milestone? We’ve included our top tips below to keeping up a regular home practice (or workout!).
Know WHY you’re doing this
Having a goal or motivating reason is key to keeping you consistent. Try setting yourself a new goal each month to keep the inspiration coming. We recommend keeping it simple and starting small.
Create a space for you time
By regularly making time for yoga or exercise, you’re investing in your physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Make this time extra special by creating a space that is dedicated to your practice. This can include leaving your mat at the ready, decorating the room with some fresh green plants (or some fake plants if your green thumb is a little lacklustre) or lighting a candle to help set a relaxed and soothing tone.
Set a reminder on your phone
Chances are your phone is in your hand right now, or very close by. Go ahead and set a reminder for a day and time that is realistic for your schedule. If everyday sounds unachievable, begin with three and work from there. Choose a time that you know will easily work into your daily routine, so you won’t be tempted to dismiss the reminder.
Find an online class or channel you connect with
Yoga is such a personal experience, there’s no “one size fits all” approach. Try out a few different YouTube channels or online classes until you find a teacher that you connect with, or a class style that you feel benefits your mind and body the best.
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself
Forever easier said than done! Remember the reason that you are doing this and learn to listen to your body. There’s a difference between needing a rest, or needing a little extra push of motivation.
